About and methodology
Who is behind Slobiq Health, how the calculators work and how we keep them accurate.
Who we are
Slobiq Health is a free project by Slobiq, the team behind Calcwise. The tools and texts are written and maintained by the Slobiq team. We are not doctors, dietitians or personal trainers, and the site does not give medical advice.
How we calculate
Every calculator uses a published formula that is shown on its page with a worked example, for instance the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for energy needs, the Epley and Brzycki formulas for one-rep max and the US Navy method for body fat. The calculation runs in your browser.
Sources
Where a public source exists, the tool page links to it, for example EFSA opinions, sports nutrition position papers and the Compendium of Physical Activities. Where we could not verify a link to the original publication we name the author and year in the text instead of linking.
Accuracy and limits
Each tool states how accurate it is. Most results are estimates that can differ from your real needs by a noticeable margin, so treat them as a starting point and look at trends over time.
Review and corrections
We review formulas and sources regularly. The date of the last review is shown on every tool page. If you find a mistake, write to slobiq@slobiq.com and we will check it.
Independence
The site has no advertising and no sponsored content at the moment. If that changes, sponsored links will be clearly marked and will never change a result.
